Pluto

Introduction

Pluto is basically a freelance hitman who targets people who have dangerous weaponry as body modifications. They're occasionally requested by authorities-not as a criminal but for aid since they are so strong that there are some cases only they can handle. In a way, they could be considered a hero...if it weren't for the fact they wouldn't hesitate. Pluto is a loaded gun that only Nova can handle without the bullet backfiring. They also trust no one else aside from Nova even tho there are some secrets they keep. But that's only because they don't want to scare her away since she's the only good thing in their life.

Personality

Pluto can be quite distant, simply observing people from the sidelines. They tend to stay in their own lane unless something peaks their interest. When it comes to Nova, they can be protective. She also gets to see a more harmless yet mischievous side other's don't. When dealing with their targets, Pluto can be merciless and cruel.

History

When Pluto was little, they were small but still rather active. However, they winded up catching a virus and struggled fighting it off. They could only do so much without getting tired and out of breath and spent much of their time in bed. One day, their parents discovered a meteorite crash site that had a strange residue leaking from the rock. There was minimal testing before they decided to try to try it out as a medication for Pluto. However, at some point, their parents had discovered the material used had some interesting side effects. Pluto was put through a series of experiments to test the limit of the alien tech that had fused with their body, resulting in months and months of pain and rebuilding. In the end, they were no longer sick, but they also weren't human as they once were.

During this time, their parents winded up having another kid. One that fit their standards better. Pluto was abruptly shoved to the side, locked away out of public site and fed practically scraps just to keep them alive.

One scientist, guilt ridden from having to go through with the procedure, snuck Pluto away and practically adopted them. She helped treat them and teach them how control themselves so they could have some resemblance of a normal life. This led to them being able to take a more humanoid form. Unfortunately, this was short lived as Pluto's parents realized that while they weren't the ideal child, they were the ideal weapon. And when Pluto's adopted mother refused to give them up, their home mysteriously caught ablaze. While Pluto survived, the scientist suffered fatal injuries. In her last few moments, she sent Pluto far far away where their parents couldn't bother them anymore.

This city winded up being where they met Kerberos (or Kerby for short). Their soon to be new dad Of course, neither of them expected such a thing to turn out as Kerby merely stumbled across Pluto taking shelter in a dark alley. Being a kind if not tired soul, Kerby took the kid home where Pluto was treated more human than anyone else had before. This was also where they discovered their interest in orange related treats.

Eventually, Kerby's day job was revealed to be more of a hobby as Pluto discovered he was actually a bounty hunter. One day, a hunt with South, leveling Kerby with only one arm to his name. Pluto, tired of being on the sidelines, decided to pick up the mantel. Starting with hunting the guy down who stole Kerby's arm.

It took some heavy debating...and arguing...and convincing for Kerby to say yes to letting Pluto act as his replacement due to Kerby disliking the idea of a kid getting involved in such a serious business. But Pluto was relentless and Kerby winded up giving in with the only rule being that the second Pluto walked through the door with so much as a scratch on them from a job, they were done and both would retire.

To this day, Pluto hasn't broken the rule.

Over the course of them hunting, they only got better and better at their job, adopting the nickname Hellhound. However, on one job, Pluto wound up miscalculating their target who turned out to be more of a runner than a fighter. They ended up having to chase him halfway across the city before they winded up crashing one of Nova's gigs. There, another miscalculation was met when instead of being the one to take their target down, a small catgirl KO'd them instead. Amidst said catgirl chewing them out, they came to learn her name was Nova and she had been through a hard life.

Pluto fell in love with her instantly.

When Pluto showed signs of interest, she just brushed them off and kept going. So when Pluto started following through with their admiration, Nova had mixed feelings. Pluto was a lot better looking than her ex by a longshot but she wasn't trying to be another notch on someone's belt. Eventually they settled on simply having a "Friend with Benefits" type of friendship to satisfy both of their needs for companionship.

Of course, their friendship deepened and developed into a serious romantic relationship, though both would be hard pressed on agreeing where they crossed over into being lovers instead of just buddies.

Skills and Abilities

Pluto is a walking weapon in the most literal of the word. They are armed to the teeth as advance alien technology that no one has managed to pin down yet.

Baetooth
A "mental" connection they share with Nova. It really is just a drop of their alien goop that they consentually implanted in her. This allows the two to talk to each other without needing to speak verbally. It also allows Nova to see how Pluto is doing healthwise, giving her the ability to give them a "catscan" just like Pluto can do a scan on her.

Plutorite

A placeholder name for whatever that black goop is that they can control. They can manipulate it at will, forming weapons and even their own clothing with it. The finished product is so seamless, you wouldn't even know they were basically wearing themselves until they told you.

Vaporus

Pluto's fully weaponized form. Their synthetic skin is replaced by a hard black chrome exoskeleton and they are constantly releasing cybernetic flames from their body as they expel heat.

Trivia

  • Pluto's appearance was inspired by Akira from Devilman and Lio from Promare.
  • Pluto is similar to plants and cold-blooded reptiles where they get much of their energy from the sun. The main thing they need is vitamin D, which can also be found in some foods. However, Pluto won't eat them...unless Nova is the one behind the food. Otherwise, big alien cyborg would prefer just vibing in some sunlight.
  • Afab aka (in their own words) "Assigned fucker at birth". They have been going by they/them pronouns since they were small.
  • Has a very deep voice (think Corpse for a ref) and strangely speaks with an accent closely resembling Australian.
